THE LOCATION

Our homebase in Ortigia, Siracusa Sicily is a charming seaside spot in the center of the ancient island city. Where Archimedes was born, and lived to invent many new ideas we still use. 

The Hotel: 

Three historic Baroque palaces in the alleys of Ortigia, which allow you to intensely experience the warmth and emotions of this unique island, this is Lanterne Magiche Ortigia. 
 

Siracusa, founded around the year 743 BC by the Corinthians, holds precious testimonies that strongly evoke the splendor of Magna Graecia, of which the island of Ortigia is a unique treasure chest in the world. Our palaces are located in the heart of ancient Giudecca, in front of an ancient Mikvé (or Mikveh): a Jewish purification bath dating back to the fifteenth century BC.

Apartments, rooms and suites with a panoramic terrace for our guests. The soft atmosphere created by the lanterns that illuminate the path in the evening and the reference to the seventh art, that of the cinema, which is celebrated by the memorabilia present in the structures, characterize the apartments.
 

A location of great architectural value and great charm has been designed as an ideal place to spend your holidays: the area is full of delightful restaurants, elegant shops and refined bars for an excellent Italian aperitivo. At a stone’s throw from the enchanting cliff of Ortigia.
 

Professional staff to assist you in discovering this corner of Sicily with its still very visible Greek influences, or to allow you the maximum relaxation lulled by the sea breeze.

We'll walk to a nearby shoreline spot for several yoga sessions with an international teacher. We'll amble to a nearby trattoria for five of our lunches and dinners (other meals you'll have freedom to try cafes, restaurants and regional dishes that suit you). We'll stroll the historic district and learn the context of this beguiling place. We'll most definitely taste gelato, cannoli, incredible panini and other treats while out and about. We'll take time to journal, and savor immersive ink painting sessions that will amaze you- Dana's past retreat attendees ALL loved what they created. Many of whom had never painted, or thought themselves "not creative". 

Chloe, our co-leader, lived in Ortigia for seven years so she knows her way around. She speaks Italian as well, so we can both communicate with locals.
